Caridina babaulti
The Green Shrimp (Cardinia babaulti) is a small, peaceful freshwater shrimp ideal for community tanks and nano setups. It thrives in water temperatures of 22‑26 °C, a pH of 6.5‑7.5, and requires at least a 40‑litre aquarium, reaching about 2.5 cm in length. Maintain stable water parameters and provide plenty of fine-leaved plants or moss for grazing and hiding. A light feed of algae wafers or finely crushed vegetable matter will keep the shrimp healthy and active.
Keep them in groups of at least 6 to encourage natural behavior. They prefer a varied diet of high-quality shrimp pellets, blanched vegetables and occasional biofilm. Stable parameters with a temperature of 22‑26 °C and pH 6.5‑7.5 are ideal. Watch for copper in medication, as it is toxic to shrimp.
